Bose has refreshed its best-selling QuietComfort Headphones, bringing several features once reserved for its pricier Ultra line down to a more accessible price point. Announced on August 6, 2026, the second-generation model goes up for pre-order on August 8 at $359, with shipping starting August 13.
The headline upgrade is active noise cancellation. The new QuietControl system relies on a six-microphone array with updated adaptive feedforward controls designed to better compensate for gaps in the earcup seal — a common problem for people who wear glasses or have long hair. Bose also refined Aware Mode with an improved ActiveSense response, so the headphones react more smoothly when a sudden loud sound breaks through.
On the audio side, Bose TrueSpatial technology — previously exclusive to the QuietComfort Ultra — is now built into this base model, offering three immersive listening modes: Still, Motion, and Cinema. The headphones also add lossless wired audio over USB-C at up to 24-bit/48kHz, along with two-way USB-C audio for calls and video conferencing, useful for anyone who wants studio-grade call quality without relying on Bluetooth.
Battery life holds at up to 24 hours of standard listening, dropping to 18 hours with Immersive Audio switched on. A 15-minute quick charge adds roughly 2.5 hours of playback. Bose also updated the design with a smoother, adjustable headband, extra cushioning, and new oval-shaped earcups, and the headphones now ship in five colors: Black, White Smoke, Eucalyptus Green, Dewdrop Mint, and Rosewood Mauve.
The move mirrors a broader trend across the headphone market this year, with rivals like Sony and Bose’s own Ultra lineup racing to combine denser microphone arrays, on-device processing, and lossless codecs to improve noise cancellation, call clarity, and music fidelity all at once.
